Same-Day AdBlue Services - Sittingbourne and Isle of Sheppey

If your dashboard is showing an AdBlue warning, or worse, a countdown to the engine not starting, bring your car or van to FSC Motor Repairs at either of our workshops in Sittingbourne and Isle of Sheppey. There’s no need to book. We’ll diagnose the fault with dealer-level equipment and, in most cases, have the system working the same day again.

AdBlue faults can quickly become urgent, because many vehicles are designed to stop restarting once the countdown reaches zero. The sooner it’s looked at, the better.

What AdBlue does

AdBlue is a liquid made from urea and purified water. Most modern diesel cars and vans inject it into the exhaust, where it reacts with harmful nitrogen oxides and turns them into nitrogen and water vapour. The system that does this is called selective catalytic reduction, usually shortened to SCR.

It’s a legal requirement for the system to work correctly, and the vehicle’s computer constantly monitors it. When something goes wrong, the car or van will warn you and, if the fault isn’t fixed, limit how it can be driven.

AdBlue warnings to look out for

  • An “AdBlue level low” or “Top up AdBlue” message
  • “No engine start in” followed by a mileage countdown
  • An AdBlue system fault or emissions system fault message
  • The engine management light coming on alongside an AdBlue warning
  • Reduced power on some vehicles

A low-level warning usually just means a top-up is needed, and any other message points to a fault in the system that needs diagnosing.

What causes AdBlue faults

AdBlue systems are sensitive, and several parts can fail:

  • Crystallisation. AdBlue can dry into hard white crystals, blocking the injector or lines.
  • Pump or heater failure. AdBlue freezes at around minus 11°C, so the system includes heaters that can fail.
  • Faulty sensors. Level, quality, and NOx sensors can give incorrect readings.
  • Contaminated fluid. Diesel or water added to the AdBlue tank by mistake can damage the whole system.
  • Tank problems. On some vehicles, including certain Peugeot and Citroën BlueHDi models, the tank unit itself is a known weak point.

How we fix AdBlue problems

We start by reading the fault codes and live data, which tell us which part of the system is reporting the problem. From there, we test the components involved, whether that’s the pump, heater, injector, or sensors, so we’re replacing the part that’s actually failed.

Crystallised injectors and lines can often be cleared rather than replaced. Once the repair is done, our diagnostic equipment allows us to clear the fault and reset the countdown, so the warning won’t return unless there’s a new problem. We also top up AdBlue for you if that’s all your vehicle needs.

We repair AdBlue systems to work as the manufacturer intended; we don’t remove or disable them, as doing so is illegal and will cause an MOT failure.

Why choose us for AdBlue repairs

  • Fast help for an urgent fault. Drive in without booking, which matters when the countdown is running.
  • Dealer diagnostic tools. We use Ford FDRS along with dedicated equipment for VW Audi Group, Mercedes-Benz, and Land Rover vehicles, giving us the access many AdBlue repairs need.
  • Vans as well as cars. We work on vans up to 5 tonnes, so tradespeople can get back to work quickly.
  • A clear price first. You’ll know what the repair costs before we start.

As a local, independent garage, we know your time matters, which is why we offer same day repairs to get you back on the road quickly. However, please be aware that same day service and repairs are subject to part availability.
