MOT
You’ll soon be able to get MOT at FSC Motor Repairs in Sittingbourne; our Class 4 and Class 7 MOT testing facility is nearing completion and we look forward to welcoming you there in the near future. There’ll be no booking required, just drive in, and we’ll test your car or van that day, explain the result, and in most cases carry out any repairs needed before you leave.
If your MOT runs out and you’ve only just noticed, you’re far from alone. That’s exactly the situation our drive-in approach is set up for.
We’re approved to test Class 4 and Class 7 vehicles. Class 4 covers cars and vans up to 3,000kg, along with motorhomes and most passenger vehicles with up to eight seats. Class 7 covers goods vehicles between 3,000kg and 3,500kg, which makes us a practical option for tradespeople running larger vans.
An MOT confirms your vehicle meets minimum legal standards for road safety and emissions. The tester will look at:
It isn’t a check of the engine’s mechanical condition, which is why an MOT doesn’t replace regular servicing.
The test itself usually takes 45 minutes to an hour. If repairs are needed, we’ll tell you how long they should take before starting.
The government sets a maximum fee for each class of MOT, and our price is confirmed before the test begins. If your vehicle needs repairs to pass, we’ll quote for them separately so you can decide how to proceed.
A fail means the tester found at least one major or dangerous defect. A vehicle with a dangerous defect must not be driven until it’s repaired. If you leave the car with us for repairs and it’s retested within 10 working days, the partial retest is free.
Yes. You can have your MOT up to a month (minus one day) before it expires and keep the same renewal date, so there’s no penalty for coming in ahead of time.
Not at our Sittingbourne branch. Drive in during opening hours and we’ll test your vehicle that day. Please note that MOTs are only carried out at Sittingbourne, not at our Sheppey workshop.
No. An MOT is a legal safety check, while a service is maintenance that keeps your car running well. We can do both on the same visit if you’d like.
If your MOT is due, or overdue, drive into our Sittingbourne garage on Trinity Trading Estate, Mill Way, and we’ll get it tested today.
As a local, independent garage, we know your time matters, which is why we offer same day repairs to get you back on the road quickly. However, please be aware that same day service and repairs are subject to part availability.
