Same-Day Car Air Conditioning Servicing - Sittingbourne and Isle of Sheppey

If your car’s air conditioning is blowing warm air or doesn’t feel as cold as it used to, FSC Motor Repairs can help the same day. We re-gas and repair air conditioning systems using both types of refrigerant gas, R134a and R1234yf, so whatever age your car is, you can drive into our garages in Sittingbourne and Isle of Sheppey without booking and get it sorted.

Which gas does my car use?

Cars use one of two refrigerant gases, and they aren’t interchangeable:

  • R134a is found in most older cars, generally those built before around 2017.
  • R1234yf is the newer, more environmentally friendly gas used in most cars built since then, along with some earlier models.

Many garages only have equipment for the older gas, which leaves owners of newer cars with fewer options. Because we handle both, we can work on nearly any car with air conditioning. If you’re not sure which gas your car uses, there’s usually a label under the bonnet, or we can check for you.

Why air conditioning stops working

Every air conditioning system slowly loses a little gas over time, even when nothing is wrong. As the level drops, the system cools less effectively, until eventually it blows warm air. A re-gas restores the correct amount and usually brings performance back.

If the system loses gas quickly, or has stopped working altogether, there’s normally a fault. Common causes include:

  • A leak from a pipe, seal, or the condenser behind the front grille
  • A failed compressor or compressor clutch
  • An electrical fault, such as a blown fuse, relay, or pressure sensor
  • A blocked cabin filter reducing airflow

Signs your air con needs attention

  • Air that’s only slightly cool, or warm, with the air con on
  • A musty or damp smell when you switch it on
  • Windows that take a long time to demist
  • Unusual noises when the air con is running
  • Water collecting in the passenger footwell

What happens during an air con re-gas

We connect your car to our air conditioning machine, which recovers any remaining gas and then puts the system under vacuum. That vacuum tells us whether the system is holding pressure, which is a good early check for leaks, and removes moisture that would otherwise reduce performance. The system is then refilled with the correct amount of gas and lubricating oil for your car, and we check the temperature at the vents.

If we find a leak, we’ll tell you rather than simply refilling a system that will empty again within weeks.

Air con isn’t just for summer

Air conditioning dries the air as well as cooling it, which is why it clears misted windows so quickly on cold, damp mornings. Running it regularly through the year also keeps the seals lubricated and helps the system stay healthy.

Why choose us for air conditioning

  • Both gases covered. Older and newer cars alike, with no need to search for a specialist.
  • Same day, no booking. Particularly welcome when the first hot spell arrives, and everyone wants their air con fixed at once.
  • Faults diagnosed properly. Our diagnostic equipment helps us track down electrical and sensor faults.
  • Clear pricing. R1234yf gas costs more than R134a, and we’ll confirm the price for your car before we start.

As a local, independent garage, we know your time matters, which is why we offer same day repairs to get you back on the road quickly. However, please be aware that same day service and repairs are subject to part availability.
